5 tips

5 tips

for your first Reed Retail Fair

for your first
Reed Retail Fair

01

01

Come with a brief, leave with a range.

Don't order eveything on day one.

The floor is big, the exhibitors are plentiful and wandering without a plan is how you end up overwhelmed and under-ordered – and knackered! Before you arrive, write down your three sourcing priorities – a category you want to grow, a gap in your range and a trend you want to respond to or a theme your customers keep asking for. Utilise the Ultimate Event Guide, Exhibitor & Product Directories and floorplan as your compass on the day.

02

02

Wear comfortable shoes – seriously.

Don't order eveything on day one.

The large scale nature of Reed Retail Fairs will reward the retailers who stay long enough to double back, deliberate and indulge in the extra step-count to find a stand they almost walked past. You can't do that in heels! Comfortable shoes, a small tote and water bottle plus a well-charged phone are the unofficial uniform. In addition, we have plenty of dining areas with seating, free water refill stations and a Pamper Pit for complimentary express massages!

03

03

Talk to everyone

Talk to everyone

Some of the best supplier relationships start with a conversation you didn't expect to have. A brand that doesn't suit your current range might be exactly right for where your store is heading. Ask questions. Take cards. The floor is the one place where every supplier is actively there to meet you. Watch our Buyer Masterclass >

04

04

Use the directory before you arrive.

Use the directory before you arrive.

The exhibitor directory goes live well before the event and is the most up to date resource. Shortlist your must-sees, filter by new exhibitors in your categories and flag the stands needing a longer visit. Download and print (or save as PDF for digital viewing) and visit with your floor time locked and loaded in advance, ensuring you leave with more orders made and less decision overwhelm.

05

05

Don't order eveything on day one.

Don't order eveything on day one.

Give yourself at least one full lap of the floor before you place orders - with the high quality of exhibitors on show, you'll always find something else around the corner so manage your budget wisely. Have a seperate post-show bucket set aside as it's inevitable you'll return to the Ultimate Event Guide or be reminded of a name when your Lead Manager App connections are sent after the event. The best buyers at Reed Retail Fairs are deliberate, not impulsive - and they always come back for more, that's why we have so many days of trade!
